Francois Theophile Gouaux was born February 22, 1883 in Natchitoches, La. He obtained his degree in medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1906 and received his medical license in 1907. Gouaux began practicing medicine in New Iberia until moving to Lockport in 1908 where he also established Gouaux's Drug Store.
